John R. Kramer's Obituary
John R. Kramer, age 89, of LaGrange, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Main Street Towne Center.
Born on June 29, 1925 in Cleveland, John graduated from Benedictine High School in 1943. He attended Ohio University for 2 years.
He served in the US Army during World War II, serving in the 3rd Army under General George Patton.
In 1950, John founded Kramer’s Landscaping Company, a family business he owned and operated until retiring in 2008. During his career, John was awarded two Presidential National Landscaping Awards.
He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Grafton, and a former member of St. Bernadette Church, in Westlake.
John spent many years singing with the Tower City Chorus. In his free time, he enjoyed playing bridge and he was an avid sports fan, cheering on the Cleveland Indians and Browns and the University Of Notre Dame.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary (nee Cachat); his children, John (Diane), Robert (Eileen), James (Nora), Thomas, Kenneth (Christine), Daniel (Stephanie), David (Joale), Kathleen (Michael) Pack, Maryann (Brian) Fallon, Karen (Wayne) Kawecki, Patricia (Frank) Quinn, Janet (William) Modrow and Ann Kothawala; 30 grandchildren; and 18 great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, William; his granddaughter Lisa; brother, Rev. Fr. Robert Kramer CSC; and his sisters, Jeanne Kramer and MaryLou Miller.
The family will receive friends at a memorial gathering on Sunday, March 15th from 3-6 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst. Memorial mass will be held on Monday, March 16th at 9:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Our Lady Queen of Peace, 708 Erie St, Grafton. Rev. Fr. John Seabold, pastor, will officiate. (Please meet at church) Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Cleveland.
