John Ray Long's Obituary
John Ray Long, age 88, of Lorain, passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2021 at Mercy New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph.
He was born on July 26, 1932 in Quaker City, OH and moved to Lorain in 1949. He worked for US Steel for 37 ½ years, from 1949 until retiring in 1986. John enjoyed the time he spent with his family. He also liked to fish, hunt, and work in his garden.
John is survived by his children, John Gary Long, of Black Mountain, NC, Cheryl Stanziano, of Lorain, and Daniel Ray Long, of Lorain, his grandchildren, Shane, Ashleigh, Nicole, Natalie, Daniel, and Briana, and a brother, Bob Long, of Sierra Vista, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Ann Long, in 1989, a daughter, Kelley F. Long, his parents, Harlan and Sally (nee Cline) Long, a brother, Richard Long, and a sister, Lola Dobransky.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 10, 2021, from 10:00 am until the time of his funeral service at 12:00 pm, in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst.
