John F. McCormack's Obituary
John F. McCormack, age 63, of Long Bottom, Ohio, formerly of Lorain, passed away at Grant Medical Center in Columbus after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on October 14, 1959 in Lorain and attended Lorain High School. After high school he proudly joined the United States Marine Corps. After his honorable discharge from the military he lived in California and Arizona before making Columbus, Oh his home.
One of his most beloved hobbies turned into a full time job. John dedicated himself and his time for training dogs for the Semper Fi K9 Training, which is an organization that trains service dogs for Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed volunteering his time helping at a local animal rescue shelter where he could fulfill his love for dogs and community. It was there John spent the last years of his life, in Long Bottom Ohio. John was also a member of St Anthony of Padua
He is survived by his mother, Patricia D. (nee Sposato) McCormack; his siblings, Deborah McCormack, Tamara McCormack and Terence (Betty “Cindy”) McCormack and 4 children and many Grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his father, Richard L. McCormack as well as his grandparents, John & Julia (nee Jacobs) Sposato and Bill & Maxine McCormack.
The family is holding a Celebration of Life on Sunday, October 8th, 2023, from 4 – 7 pm, at German’s Villa, 3330 Liberty Avenue, Vermilion, OH 44089. Everyone is invited to share memories to honor John’s life, as he was filled with such passion for the Marine Corps, his Judo Club and of course his love of dogs and training them for their new “forever homes.” The Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, Amherst, has been assisting the family.
