John M. Puskavich's Obituary
John Matthew Puskavich, 62, of Lorain, Ohio, began Eternal Life on February 28, 2016 after a hard fought one year battle with bile duct cancer (Cholangiocarcinoma).
John was born June 17, 1953 in Wheeling, West Virginia to John and Rhea (nee Davis) Puskavich and moved to Ohio in 1957 with his family. He graduated from Clearview High School in 1971 and married his wife Karen on March 2, 1973. He worked as an assistant manager at Meyer Goldberg Supermarkets for several years. John continued his career at Frito-Lay in Lorain until retiring in 2008.
Father of six children and grandfather to five, John enjoyed nothing more than spending time and talking with his family. He enjoyed caring for his grandchildren and attending their sporting events and awards assemblies. John was always willing to help family and friends with a variety of different carpentry or handyman tasks.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Karen Lynne (nee Counts); his mother, Rhea Puskavich; a son, Matthew Puskavich; daughters, Nikole (Anthony) Ramirez, Shannon (Charles) Fairchild, Melanie (Justin) Caputo, Kaitlin Puskavich and Karen (Andrew) Perkins; grandchildren, Anthony Ramirez, Charles Fairchild, Cole Ramirez, Evan Caputo and Oscar Caputo; sisters, Sandy (Earl) Burkey and Kathleen (Stanley) Bansek.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Puskavich in 1992; and a sister, Eileen Baird in 2014.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4:00 – 8:00 pm in the Dovin & Reber Jones Funeral and Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, where funeral services will be held Thursday 1:30 pm in the funeral center. Rev. John Retar, pastor of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Parish, Lorain, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
