John D. Schneider Jr.'s Obituary
John D. Schneider Jr. passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at the age of 87. He was born on October 29, 1937, in Lorain, Ohio, to John D. and Margaret Schneider Sr. A proud lifelong resident of Lorain, John was known for his dedication to his work, his love for sports, and his deep devotion to his family.
John began his career at Nelson Stud before being drafted into the United States Navy, where he proudly served his country for four years. He was honored to serve and carried that sense of duty and commitment throughout his life. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Nelson Stud, working in Shipping and Receiving until his retirement after 44 years of dedicated service.
A hardworking and passionate individual, John found joy in playing softball, golfing, and cheering on his favorite college sports teams, especially The Ohio State Buckeyes. Beyond his hobbies, his greatest joy was his family. He was a fantastic father who adored his daughters and cherished every moment with his grandchildren, who lovingly referred to him as "Grandpa's little helpers." His daughters feel incredibly honored to have had him as their father and will miss him dearly.
John is survived by his beloved daughters, Christina (Ian) Schneider and Julia Schneider; and his treasured grandchildren, Tyler and Nellie Schneider. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 42 years, Maria Kupiniak Schneider; his parents, John and Margaret Schneider Sr.; and his sister, Karen DeChant.
The family will receive friends on Monday, February 17, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, Ohio with a funeral service immediately following at 12:00 p.m. in the funeral center. In lieu of flowers, contributions in John’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 23215 Commerce Park Drive, Suite 300, Beachwood, OH 44122.
