John M. Vargo's Obituary
John M. Vargo, age 83, of Lorain, passed away on Monday, June 7, 2021 at Mercy New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph, Lorain.
He was born on September 30, 1937 in Lorain, where he lived his entire life, and is a graduate of Lorain High School. Then, from 1962 until his honorable discharge in 1964, he served his country while enlisted in the United States Army. Eventually, John went on to earn his associates degree in Electronics.
He was a proud owner of his successful business, Vargo Electric. He was also chief electrical inspector for the City of Lorain, finally retiring in 2005. John was a member of Church on the North Coast, Lorain. He was also a member of the Lorain Rifle & Pistol Club, where he held the position of Treasurer for 12 years. John enjoyed sports that included shooting and just being outdoors, especially working in his garden.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, JoAnne L. (nee Petroskey) Vargo, his daughter, Johnna (Tassos) Athineos, of Lorain, his son, Shawn (Mary) Vargo, of Amherst, his 5 grandchildren, Jared & Shanna Athineos, and Aden, Dylan & Jordan Vargo, and a brother, James (Judy) Vargo, of Lorain.
John was preceded in death by his son, Todd, his parents, James and Margaret (nee Liszak) Vargo, and a brother, Joseph Vargo.
The family will be holding private services. Friends will be invited to a memorial service at a later date.
