John A. Volak's Obituary
John A. "JV" Volak, age 78, passed away with family by his side on Wednesday, March 19th, 2025 at Mercy New Life Hospice Center. He was born January 14th, 1947 in Lorain, OH to John J. and Rose G. (DeChiaro) Volak. John grew up in Lorain and Amherst and graduated from Marion Steele High School.
John proudly served in the Army National Guard Reserves for 6 years. He worked in construction with his father, as well as co-owed and partnered with Chuck Grm at CCU. His final career was with the Lorain Fire Department, where he worked for 20 years.
John lived a life full of adventure, laughter, and love, always embracing each moment with enthusiasm and passion. John’s interests were as diverse as they were numerous. He had a love for the open road, spending countless miles riding his motorcycle, with his wife, across many states, always seeking the next adventure. His love for the water was just as strong, logging many cherished hours boating. Traveling with his beloved wife and dear friends brought him great joy, as did bicycle rides, rounds of golf, and cigar nights with "the guys" on the deck. He also found great satisfaction in tinkering with his Porsche, always finding ways to keep it in top shape. Above all, John treasured time spent with his family and shared a special bond with his cat, Marley—especially when it came to sharing his milk.
One of John's proudest moments was serving as his father’s guardian on the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., where they visited the WWII Memorial—a journey filled with deep pride and gratitude.
He was a member of The Ohio Carpenters Union, Great Lakes Power Boat Association where he was awarded Driver of the Year, Fire Fighters Local #267 and The Lorain Lion's Club.
John will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His adventurous spirit, kind heart, and unwavering love for those around him will live on in the many memories he created. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Jamie(nee Corrao); his children, Nicole (Mike) Akosi and Michael (Jennie) Volak; and his sister, Carol A. (Volak) Kussai.
