Jorge Muniz's Obituary
Jorge Muniz, Jr., age 57, of Lorain, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at New Life Hospice Residential Center.
Born September 30, 1954 in Lorain, he resided here his entire life. He graduated from Admiral King High School in 1973.
Jorge served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He received the Rifle Marksman Badge, Good Conduct Medal and Meritorious Mast.
For 29 years, he worked at US Steel as a brick layer.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain.
Having a passion for playing darts, Jorge played in the National Dart Association for many years, traveling all over for tournaments and winning many of them. He also enjoyed bowling.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Emma (nee Colon); 2 sons, Jorge O. (Veronica) Muniz, of Hesperia, CA and Marty (Brandy) Muniz of Lorain; his daughter, Michelle Maria (William) Vicens, of Lorain, his parents, Jorge and Carmen (nee Plaza) Muniz, Sr.; and a sister, Sylvia Sanchez, of Flower Mound, TX and he was the dear "Papa Jorge" to his 8 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 26th from 2-6 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst. Closing prayers will be said on Monday, February 27th at 8:45 a.m. in the funeral center followed by Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain. Rev. Fr. William Thaden, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens with military honors being conducted.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made in his memory at any Lorain National Bank branch.
