Jose "Pin" Gonzalez's Obituary
Jose “Pin” V. Gonzalez, age 94, of Lorain passed away Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Amherst Manor Nursing Home.
He was born on October 6, 1922 in Lares, Puerto Rico. Jose enlisted with the United States Army on June 26, 1943 serving as a Private with the Btry D 765th. AAA Gun Bn. He was honorably discharged on January 18, 1945.
Jose was employed by Nation Tube from December 18, 1950 until his retirement on June 8, 1972. He was also the owner of several small grocery stores.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel and a member of their Charismatic Renewal group.
Jose is survived by his children, Edwin Gonzalez, of Vermilion, Migdalia “Millie” (Bob) Loosli, of South Amherst, and Lillian (Tom) Neal, of Amherst; grandchildren, Candice (nee Loosli) (Chris) Darmafall, Rochelle Loosli, Kristie (nee Loosli) (Edward) Millane, Ryan (Brooke) Neal, Jessica (nee Neal) (Orion) Owens, and April (nee Gonzalez) (Guy) Sapienza; great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Zachary, Sean, Michael, Cody, Gabrielle, Jaxson, Alexandria, Parker, Noah, Isabel, Oriana, Angelique and Marissa; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Margarita “Coqui” Gonzalez, in 2015; parents, Emiliano and Antonia Gonzalez; and his brother, Francisco Gonzalez.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. The family will also receive friends on Thursday, May 11th. from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel , 4301 Pearl Ave., Lorain. Rev. Father, William Thaden, Pastor, will officiate.Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
