Jose Luis Velez's Obituary
Jose Luis Velez, age 81, of Lorain was reunited in eternity with his beloved wife, Carmen on Monday, November 27, 2017.
He was born on August 24, 1936 in Utuado, Puerto Rico and came to Lorain at the age of 16. Jose worked for the Ford Motor Company for 32 years, retiring in 1988.
Jose was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel. He enjoyed watching Chuck Norris movies, the Cleveland Indians, WWE and WWF Wrestling. He also enjoyed Baby Ruth candy bars, gardening, playing dominoes, and making people laugh.
Jose will always be remembered as a very caring and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his children, Carmen (Bill) Palko, of Annandale, VA, Margarita Velez, of Lorain, Susi (Oscar) Cruz, of Puerto Rico, Migdalia (Orlando) Velez, of Cleveland, Honey Velez, of Cleveland, and Jose Luis (Tracy) Velez, of Cleveland; 23 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Jose was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Carmen Lydia Velez on August 21, 2011.
The Velez family will receive friends on Friday, December 1, 2017 from 2:00 – 4:00 & 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. The family will also receive friends on Saturday, December 2nd. From 8:30 a.m. until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Ave., Lorain. Rev. Father William Thaden, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
