I was saddened to learn of Joe's passing from the obituary in the Detroit Free Press. We had been colleagues at Ford Research those many years ago. Additionally we shared the undergraduate Physics program at (what was then) Case Institute of Technology. Joe was just absolutely a fine fellow with a very mild manner as I recall. He could be trusted to provide a clear and unemotional viewpoint on almost any discussion. My heartfelt sympathies to the family.
