Joseph M. Barnicle's Obituary
Joseph Michael Barnicle, age 84, of Lorain, passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2021, at Mercy Regional Medical Center, Lorain.
He was born on August 29, 1937 in Patton, PA, moved to Lorain when he was just 1 year old and went to school at St. Mary’s. After grade school, he went to work at Jacobs Food Store for 2 years then worked at Smith & Gerharts for 2 years. Finally, in 1954, he began serving his country while in the United States Army until being honorably discharged in 1957. He then served with the National Guard for the next 4 years. Joe began his career at Ford Motor Company in 1959 until retiring from there in 1987.
Joseph was a member of the American Legion and liked to go walking and swimming. He was an excellent pie-maker, selling hundreds of them at his booth at Jamie’s Flea Market. Joe enjoyed collecting antique “odds & ends” as well as antique cars and he also had an extensive collection of boats. Most of all though, Joe adored his beloved companion, Barb, and his little dog, “Barnie.”
He is survived by his companion, Barbara J. Johnson, his brothers, Mike and Don, and his sister, Sally. He was preceded in death by his parents; Charles & Irene (nee Dunagon) Barnicle, brothers, Jim and Dick, and step-son, Kevin Kiepe.
