Joseph Michael Berki's Obituary
Joseph M. Berki, 74, of Elyria, Ohio, passed away on March 18, 2026, in Cleveland, Ohio. A lifelong resident of Lorain County, he was born on March 20, 1951 in Lorain to the late Louis and Elvira (née Trelay) Berki. Joseph graduated from Admiral King High School in 1969, earned his bachelor’s degree from Cleveland State University, and recently retired from Boeing.
Joseph had a passion for aviation and airplanes. He was actively involved with EAA Chapter 1252 at the Lorain County Regional Airport, where he shared his enthusiasm for flight with others who loved it just as much. Above all, Joseph was a devoted family man who deeply loved being part of his grandchildren’s lives and treasured the time he spent with them.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sharyn (née Mitcheff) Berki, with whom he shared 50 wonderful years of marriage; his loving daughters, Kaitlyn Berki (Andrew Stine) and Michelle Berki; his treasured grandchildren, Julian, Morgan, Archer, and Rhys; and his cherished sister, Nancy Berki.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a funeral service beginning at 7:00 p.m., at Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral and Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, Ohio 44001.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain, Ohio. Family and friends are asked to please meet at the cemetery gates.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
