Joseph P. Jevince's Obituary
Joseph Jevince, age 91, of Lorain, Ohio, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 9, 1933, in Monroe, Michigan, to Dominic and Lucy (nee Complo) Jevince. Joseph grew up in Monroe, where he graduated from Monroe High School before pursuing his education at Eastern Michigan University. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, a testament to his dedication and strong work ethic.
A proud United States Army Veteran, Joseph enlisted on March 2, 1953, and honorably served his country until his discharge on January 31, 1955. His military service instilled in him a sense of discipline and integrity that he carried throughout his life.
Joseph built a successful career at Ford Motor Company, where he worked with diligence and passion until his retirement in 1992. His colleagues knew him as a dependable, hard-working man who took pride in his craft.
Outside of work, Joseph found joy in life's simple pleasures. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time fixing and tinkering with various projects around the house. His natural curiosity and mechanical aptitude made him the go-to person for any household repair. Joseph had a special fondness for animals, especially cats and dogs, and he never failed to light up when he was around babies.
Joseph was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Elyria, where he shared stories, camaraderie, and a deep bond with fellow veterans. His warm personality and genuine kindness made him a friend to everyone he met; he truly never met a stranger.
Above all, Joseph cherished his family. His love for them was unconditional, and his pride in their accomplishments was evident to all who knew him. He is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Carol (nee Fisher) Jevince; his children, Anne (Csongor) Hollohazy, Michael (Dana) Jevince, Karen (Gard) Mayer and Robert Jevince; his grandchildren, Anthony Jevince, Elizabeth Jevince, Julia Jevince, Bear Mayer, Jolie Mayer, Ashley Horn, and Ryan Hollohazy; and his great-grandchildren, Anthony and Oliver Jevince, and Hunter Horn. He is also survived by his brother, Don (Pam) Jevince; his sister, Jeanette Bourbina; and his sister-in-law, Nancy Day.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Dominic and Lucy Jevince; his brother, Jimmy Jevince; and his sister, Mary Lou Bastien.
Joseph's legacy of love, kindness, and hard work will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His family takes comfort in knowing he is at peace and that his spirit will forever remain with them.
