Joseph Carl Pentito Jr.'s Obituary
Joseph Carl Pentito Jr., 70, of Amherst passed away suddenly on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Southwest General Hospital in Middleburg Hts., Ohio.
He was born on July 26, 1947 in Lorain, Ohio to Joseph and Rita (nee Marter) Pentito. Joseph attended Amherst High School for 3 years and graduated from Lorain High School in 1965. He enlisted with the United States Air Force on July 29, 1966 and was honorably discharged on March 6, 1970.
Joseph started his career at the American Shipyards as a welder he then went on to work at US Steel retiring in 2013. He was a member of the Amherst Eagles, the Beneficent Order of the Greenman, Endowment member of the NRA, Brothers of the Third Wheel, and an active member the Local Union 1104, while he was employed at US Steel.
He was very active with the Boy Scouts and served as a Scout Master. He was also inducted into the Order of the Arrow, the National Honor Society of the Boys Scouts of America. Joseph was a very talented, creative and imaginative man. He enjoyed using his talents crafting, woodworking and painting. He was also an avid collector of memorabilia and loved going to the movies, and traveling on his motorcycle.
Joseph is survived by his daughter, Peggie Pentito, of Amherst; sons, Joseph (Nicole) Pentito, of Elyria, andPeter (Kathleen) Pentito, of Louisville, OH; grandchildren, Darian Weinbrandt, Maycee Frederick, Branyan Frederick, Skyler Frederick, Gavin Pentito, Sophia Pentito, Isabelle Pentito, Carmin Pentito, Gianna Pentito, and Vinny Pentito; sisters, Mary Pentito, and Dorothy (Samuel) Canada.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Rita Pentito; and his infant brother, Peter Pentito.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 18, 2018 from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Closing prayers will be at10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 19th. in the funeral center followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Peter, 3655 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. Rev. Father Craig Hovanec, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
