Josephine A. Miceli Garcia's Obituary
Josephine A. Miceli Garcia, age 96, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Mercy New Life Hospice Center. Born and raised in Lorain, she was a lifelong resident and a proud graduate of Lorain High School.
In her youth, Josephine shared her love of dance as an instructor at the Arthur Murray Dance Studio. Later, she worked as a dedicated sales associate at May Company/Kaufman's, serving customers with care for over 20 years. However, her heart and true dedication always belonged to her family. A devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother, Josephine’s family was her pride and joy, especially her beloved grandchildren, who were, as she fondly put it, "the best medicine" she ever needed.
A faithful and active member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Lorain, Josephine found joy and purpose in her faith. She was known for her cooking and baking talents. Her family cherishes the beautiful afghans she lovingly crocheted, each a testament to her skill in knitting and crocheting.
Josephine was an avid fan of Cleveland sports, cheering passionately for the Indians and the Cavs. She also enjoyed bowling, gardening, and taking great pride in her carefully cultivated rock garden.
Her warmth, dedication, and zest for life will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
Josephine is survived by her children, Robert (Janet) Garcia, of Lorain, Denise (Vincent) Karnik, of Lorain, Valerie (Jeffrey Krall) Morales, of Lorain and Joyce (Derik) Wilhelm, of Lorain; grandkids, Jason, Jared (Leah), Janel (Craig), Jasmine, Jade (Blake), Jette, Jem, Alexandra (Justin), Samantha and Derik; 15 great grandkids and one great great grandson.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Terry Garcia; grandson, Brandon Wilhelm; parents, Philip & Concettina (nee Giardina) Miceli; sister, Sister Mary Laura “Lillian” Miceli; and a brother, Andrew Miceli.
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 4, 2024 from 11:00 am until the time of her Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 pm at St. Peter’s Church, 3655 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Fr. Craig Hovanec, Pastor, will officiate. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. To send an online condolence, please visit www.dovinreberjones.com.
To Joyce – Because of you, mom had the most wonderful, caring and living angel by her side. You were her caregiver 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You went above and beyond taking care of our mother and for that we will be eternally grateful. Nobody could have done it better than you!
In lieu of flowers the family suggests making a memorial contribution in Josephine’s memory to St. Peter’s Church, 3655 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain.
