Joyce Dettorre's Obituary
Joyce "Bunny" Dettorre (nee Kotur), 76, a former resident of Lorain, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 24, 2011 at Western Reserve Masonic Community in Medina.
Born Sept. 25, 1935 in Steubenville, Ohio, she graduated from Steubenville Big Red High School in 1953. After Graduating from Ohio University with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education, she moved to Lorain in 1957. For the past 4 years, she has resided in Medina.
Joyce worked as an elementary school teacher for Charleston and Mason Elementary Schools, both in Lorain for over 32 years, retiring in 1997.
She was a member of the Church of St. Peter, Lorain. Joyce was passionate and supportive of the former Lorain Catholic High School, where she was active in the Band Boosters. She enjoyed going to Columbus to watch the Ohio State University Marching Band perform, reading, card club, and vacationing in Las Vegas. Joyce cherished the time raising her children and loved spending time with her granddaughters.
Surviving is her husband of 54 years, Julius; sons, Jay of Akron and Jeff of Amherst; a daughter, Joy Dettorre of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; and 5 granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by parents, Spasso and Mary (nee Milosevich) Kotur.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 27, 2011, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst where funeral services will be Friday at 10:30 am. Mass will follow at 11:00 am at the Church of St. Peter, 3655 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Fr. Lawrence Martello will officiate. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
