Joyce Ruth Moore's Obituary
Joyce Ruth Moore, age 87, from Vermilion, OH, passed away on February 7, 2026. In 1938, Joyce was the first “Christmas Baby” born in Troy, OH, to her parents Roy and Pearl (Gladman) Vititoe. Joyce was an only child and a very independent spirit, and started working at an insurance company in downtown Columbus in the 1950’s. Joyce’s father introduced her to his work companion, “Eddie”, whom she married six months later.
Joyce had two daughters, Cathy and Tonda, and traveled all throughout the United States and Canada spreading the Gospel of Jesus with her husband. Joyce went on to co-pastor the Full Gospel Community Church in Tarkio, MO, with her husband and to co-own the “Moore’s Family Restaurant” in Malvern, IA. Joyce went on to be a foster parent in Lorain County and then continued to work for Respite Care until she was 80 years old. Joyce was well known for her pies made for Ednamae’s in Vermilion.
In her spare time, Joyce volunteered with the American Red Cross and a member of Harbourtown Community Church and held previous leadership positions with Church on the North Coast. Joyce loved her family and took wonderful care of her husband during his illness. Joyce enjoyed hosting parties; decorating for the holidays; baking and candy making; studying the Bible; and gardening, especially her roses. Her husband always said that he would know where to find Joyce in Heaven - amongst the roses.
Joyce is survived by Daughters, Tonda Moore Siewert of Buckeye Lake, and Cathy Clouse (Steve) of Vermilion; Grandchildren Kimberly Hayes and Jason Hayes, both of Vermilion; Great Grandchildren, Caleb Waller of Fairview Park, Madi Bonner of Elyria and Aiden Smith of Vermilion; Great-Great Grandchild, Ainsley Smith of Vermilion; her beloved “grand-dog” Stella; and many cousins.
Friends and family may call Saturday, February 14, 2026, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd, Amherst, OH, with Funeral Services to begin at 2:30 p.m. For those who cannot attend in person, the funeral service will be livestreamed on the funeral home’s website via YouTube icon on the bottom of our webpage.
