Juanita Stamcoff's Obituary
Juanita Stamcoff (nee McKenzie), age 85, of Elyria Township, passed away with her daughter by her side, on Sunday, March 31, 2013 at Adult Care by Sandy while under the care of New Life Hospice.
She was born on October 21, 1927 in Nashville, TN to the late James and Myrtle McKenzie. She came to the Elyria Township area in 1945. For the last three years, she resided at Hearthstone (currently Elmcroft) in Lorain.
Taking great pride in being a homemaker, Juanita focused her life on being a devoted wife, mother and baba (grandmother). She enjoyed baking and was known for her delicious nut tortes.
Juanita worked for 12 years at Moen as an assembler, retiring from there in 1984. She was active with the Moen Retirees Group.
She was a member of Ss. Cyril and Methodius Orthodox Church, and the Sisterhood of the Church. She was also a member of the Eagles in Lorain.
She is survived by her daughter, Jean (Tom) Winterstein, of Lorain and her sons, James (Christine), of Greenville, OH and Thomas (Donna), of Las Vegas, NV; her grandchildren, Jennifer (Jeremiah) Martin, Ashley Nicole Thomasson, Alex Stamcoff, Michael Stamcoff and Brian (Tracy) Stamcoff; and 7 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Alex of 50 years, in 1995 and her parents.
The Stamcoff Family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 3rd from 4-8 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd. Amherst. A Parastas service will be held at 7:30 p.m. that evening. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Orthodox Church, 3056 Reeves Ave., Lorain. Fr. Paul G. Monkowski, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
