Judith A. "Judy" Foltin's Obituary
Judith A. “Judy” Foltin (nee Petrus) age 89, of Lorain, passed away Friday, May 18, 2018 at Elmcroft of Lorain following a brief illness.
Born December 16, 1928 in Painesville, she lived in Fairport Harbor, Cleveland and Avon Lake before settling in Lorain in 1969. Judy graduated from Mentor High School in 1946 and attended Ursuline College.
Before Judy got married in 1952, she worked as an accounts manager at Grants Department Store in Painesville. Judy was a homemaker who enjoyed camping with her family, crocheting, needle work and was an expert bridge player. She also followed Cleveland professional sports and was a huge Cavaliers fan. Besides traveling to casinos, Judy traveled the world having been to all 50 states and many foreign countries.
Judy led the charge to establish the Lorain Senior Center and was a founding member. She served on the center’s board for 3 decades having several stints as President and Chairman of the Board. She is a member of St. Anthony of Padua in Lorain and has been active in the Senior Sociable’s there.
Surviving are her sons, Bob of Camp Verde, Arizona, Stephen (Gale) of Darien, Illinois, Wes (Kelli) of Winter Haven, Florida and Craig (Karen) of Lorain; 17 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; sisters, Martha Petti of Cleveland and Elaine Schneid of Olmsted Falls.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Stephen in 1996; parents, Joseph and Elizabeth (nee Bartish) Petrus; and brothers, Larry Petrus and John Petrus.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 22, from 4 - 7 pm at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 am at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1339 E. Erie Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Daniel O. Divis, pastor of St. Mary Church, Lorain, will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
