Julia Rose Parker's Obituary
Julia Rose Parker (nee Furore), 85, of Lorain, passed away April 26, 2016 at The Woods of French Creek in Avon following a lengthy illness.
Born May 19, 1930 in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, she lived in Youngstown where she graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1948. In 1949 she moved to Lorain where she has lived since.
Julia retired in 1991 from the Lorain City School System where she was a cafeteria worker at Southview High School for 16 years. She had also worked at Ted Jacobs, May Co. and Milk’s Christmas World.
She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Elyria, where she belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society and the 200 Club. She also volunteered many hours there baking and making nut roll.
Julia enjoyed baking, going to card parties, casino trips, watching football games and sports. She also enjoyed swimming and golfing.
Surviving are her children, Annamarie (Thomas) Jenkins of Amherst, Cynthia Gentry of Lorain, Toni (Jerry) Cricks and Janice Cobb both of South Amherst; Guy Parker of Amherst and Phillip (Sandy) Parker of Coralville, Iowa; grandchildren, Nicholas Jenkins, Matthew Jenkins, Shawn Rainey, Shawn Gentry, Mary Clark, Tim (Pam) Cricks, Jessica (Chuck) Lyman, Elizabeth Cobb, Tyler Parker and Paige Parker; several great grandchildren; and a sister, Marie Shumaker of Mount Pleasant, Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her infant son, Carl Bradford Parker; parents, Joseph and Marie (Lazere) Furore; sisters, Dolores Jensen and Fran Frazzini; son-in-laws, Dick Burrer, Bob Gentry and Charlie Cobb; and her former husband Carl Parker.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 29, from 4-8 PM, in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at 9:30 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 41295 N. Ridge Road, Elyria, Ohio 44035. Rev. Donald H. Dunson, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
