Julia Velez's Obituary
Julia Velez, age 86, of Lorain passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2014 after a lengthy illness.
She was born on January 21, 1928 in Moravis, Puerto Rico to Manuel and Sarah (nee Santos) Silva. Julia came to Lorain in 1954 and has made her home here ever since.
Julia was a homemaker who devoted her life to raising her 7 children. She loved playing bingo, gardening and especially loved cooking. She was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel.
Julia is survived by her husband of 61 years, Antonio Velez; children, Joe Velez, Angel Velez, twins, Letisia Ruiz, Zenaida Rodriquez, Elmer Velez, Noraidia Hodges, Louis Feliciano; grandchildren, Amy Velez, Angie Velez, Jennifer Hernandez, Stephanie Cornute, Natasha Guerrieri, Anthony Hodges, Rebecca Matthews, Joshua Velez, Tyler Velez, Gabriella Feliciano, and Lily Feliciano; 5 great-grandchildren; siblings, Romana Visalden, Luis Silva, Anna Santos, Mary Feliciano, Fransico Silva, Tadeo Silva, and Glades Figueroa.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Judith Velez; siblings, Enrique Silva, Elenterio Silva, Tadeo Silva I, Antonia Rosario-Nieves, Sarin Ocasio, Carmen Cordero, Luz Salgado and Lolita Silva.
The Velez family will receive friends on Friday, August 1, 2014 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Ave., Lorain, OH 44055 where Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. Rev. Fr. William Thaden, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
