Julio Velez's Obituary
It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Julio Velez, age 84, on Tuesday, November 1, 2022.
Julio was born on August 1, 1938 in Lares, Callejones, Puerto Rico and made Lorain his home in 1956. From humble beginnings of working at a tree nursery for $1 an hour until He began working at Ford Motor Company in Brookpark where he retired after 30 years of service. He was incredibly proud of his home and lawn, making sure it was perfectly beautiful as possible. Julio always looked forward to buying new cars and he enjoyed playing Dominos. His greatest love in life was his wife of 67 years and his children.
He is survived by his wife Irma (nee Gonzalez); children, Nelson Velez, of Lorain, Wilson Velez, of Lorain, Orlando (Migdalia) Velez, of Cleveland, Julio, Jr. (Frances) Velez, of Amherst, and Irma Lynn (Stevie) McKinney, of Lorain; grandchildren, great grandchildren; his siblings, Ana Iris Velez of Illinois, David Velez of Puerto Rico, Nelida Burgos of Puerto Rico, Rogelio Velez Jr. of Puerto Rico, Sergio (Lucy) Velez of Puerto Rico, Vinerba Velez of Tennessee, Nelson (Carmen) Velez of Lorain, Emilio (Joaquina) Velez of Florida, Eligio (Brunilda) Velez of Lorain , nieces and nephews.
Proceeded in death by his father Domingo Rogelio Velez Cruz Mother Maria Velez Soto, and brother Alipio Velez Soto.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 4th, 2022 from 3 to 7 pm in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. His funeral service will be on Saturday, at 11:00 am, also in the funeral center. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
