June D. Gorski's Obituary
June D. Gorski, DrPH, CHES, age 83 of Knoxville, TN, passed away on March 7, 2025.
Dr. June Gorski was a Professor of Health Education and Public Health at the University of Tennessee where she taught for 37 years. She received many honors, including the UT Alumni Association Outstanding Teacher Award, Meritorious Service and Life Membership by the TN Public Health Association, the Women of Achievement Award, the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching, and the National Alumni Association Award for Outstanding Public Service. She has published in many journals, served on numerous doctoral committees, and served as a graduate advisor to many. She was a member of the Zeta Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, Eta Sigma Gamma and the TN Public Health Association.
June loved to travel internationally, visiting over 70 countries, and loved her friends and family. Her Catholic faith was important to her. She loved animals, the zoo, visiting Dollywood, and supporting the UT Volunteer athletics.
Preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Vera Gorski.
Survived by her sister, Anita (Gorski) Field (husband David); niece, Debbie Nunner (husband Jim); nephew, Marty Cugavic; great nephew, Sam Nunner (wife Olivia); and great nieces Liza Nunner, Morgan Cugavic, Alli Cugavic.
