Karen Marie Rupp's Obituary
Karen Rupp (nee Scherach), age 69, lifelong resident of Lorain passed peacefully on Thursday, January 10. She was born on February 27, 1949 in Lorain, Ohio to Ed and Clarice Scherach. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1967. She went on to complete her nursing degree at Lorain Community College and worked at St. Joseph’s hospital for 25 years.
Despite her on-going health challenges, Karen was full of energy and was always looking forward to the next occasion with family and friends. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church and enjoyed attending many church functions. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, shopping, and spending time with her two grandchildren. One of her favorite activities was working in the kitchen at Laurel Run Cooking School, where she volunteered for almost 200 classes. She also really enjoyed visiting local wineries, rooting for the Cleveland Indians, and traveling to such places as Put-In-Bay, Amish Country, and Florida. Karen truly lived her life to the fullest.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 40 years, Bill, of Lorain; her daughters, Kristen (Dustin) Lowry and Kelly (Kurt) Kuenzle; her brother Mike (Char) Scherach; her sister Susie (Jeff) Barnes; her grandchildren Elizabeth Lowry and Connor Kuenzle.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Clarice Scherach.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 13, 2019 from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, Ohio. Closing prayers will be held on Monday, January 14th. at 9:00 a.m. in the funeral center followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 309 W. 7th. Street, Lorain, Ohio. Rev. Father Daniel Divis, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp.
