Karrie Mathie-Imbrogno's Obituary
Karrie Mathie-Imbrogno (August 1949 – May 2024), daughter of the late Richard and Vivian (nee Hamilton) Mathie, passed away peacefully in the presence of her family, Sunday, May 5, 2024 at St. Mary of the Woods in Avon after a brief illness. Karrie was a 1967 graduate of Washington High School, Massillon, Ohio and valedictorian of her class. Early in her career she worked for the Stark County Prosecutor’s office and as a court recorder, then as a legal secretary and Marketing Director for a prestigious Cleveland law firm before starting her own company to provide administrative services for non-profit organizations, including the U.S. Composting Council and the ESOP Association. In her 20 plus years in serving the ESOP Association she served as administrator for six chapters and traveled all over the country coordinating chapter activities and conferences. She was highly respected by her colleagues and earned a reputation for being highly efficient and very effective. She also continued to serve as book keeper and office administrators for Jim Betts of Betts and Associates, a long-time friend and associate. Karrie was dedicated to her work and committed to providing excellence in all that she did.
Even with the commitment to her work, Karrie had the time to be a loving mother and devoted wife. Karrie loved to travel, especially to Cape Hatteras and Hawaii; her favorite was the Big Island of Hawaii. She was a compassionate animal lover and had a real soft spot in her heart for kittens and cats. Karrie has always been active in her church, often serving as secretary or treasurer; she was generous and a life-long contributor to the church and worthy charities. Karrie was a devoted Christian and a true believer in Jesus Christ and the Resurrection that is to come. She is survived by her husband, Daniel Imbrogno, her son, Jeffrey Zengler of North Canton, Ohio, her daughter, Stefanie Hilles of Hamilton, Ohio, her sister, Sandy (nee Mathie) Denning of Denver, CO, her brother, Russel Mathie of Massillon, OH and her brother, Ernest Mathie of Florida.
