Kathleen Ruth Mulica's Obituary
On December 25th, 2021, Kathleen Ruth Mulica “Grandma BooBoo” (nee Mutchmore), age 76, of Lorain, was peacefully called home to be with the lord after a brief illness and stay at Mercy New Life Hospice. Kathleen is survived by her husband of 56 years, Victor Joseph Mulica Jr., her only daughter and best friend, Vicki Jo (Eric) Sexstella, and her two granddaughters; Alexxis Elisse and Paige Marie Sexstella, all of Lorain. Kathleen was preceded in death by her younger sister, Faye Ellen Mutchmore, at the age of 11 in 1960, father Basil Murtis Mutchmore, in 1990, and her mother, Mary L’jeanne Mutchmore (nee Yingling), in 2001.
Kathy was born February 8, 1945, in Lorain and attended Admiral King High School. She worked as a short order cook for the Ohio Turnpike Plaza in Amherst in the early 1970’s, and at Maintenance King as janitorial staff. She spent most of her life as a devoted homemaker and raising her daughter. Kathy married her loving husband, Victor, on June 12, 1965, and 6 years later welcomed their only child, Vicki, on February 10, 1971, whom she would often say was her biggest and best accomplishment.
Kathy was a dedicated wife, mother, mother-in-law, who loved her son-in-law, Eric, as if he were her own, and a grandmother who loved her granddaughters more than life itself. Most importantly though, she was a devoted daughter who was the primary caregiver for 10 years to her father, Basil, while he battled Parkinson’s Disease until his death in 1990. Kathy was an avid movie buff which led to her large collection of films. Her favorite movie was Bohemian Rhapsody as it told the story of her favorite band, Queen.
Anyone who had the privilege of knowing Kathy knew of her kindness, generosity, compassion, ability to see the best in everyone, and most of all, her sense of humor. She will be deeply missed by her friends and family forever.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks monetary donations to be made to help defer the cost of medical bills incurred. The family also wishes to thank the staff of 1 west and TCU at Mercy Hospital and New Life Hospice for all the caring and compassion given to Kathy and her family at the end of her life.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, December30th, from 4:00 pm until the time of her funeral service at 7:00 pm in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. To send an online condolence, please go to www.dovinreberjones.com.
