Kathryn Ann Szetlak's Obituary
Kathryn A. Szetlak, 81, of Lorain, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 17, 2026, following a brief illness. She was born on May 28, 1944, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Harry and Lucille (nee Ullman) Woods. Kathryn was a graduate of Villa Angela High School and dedicated many years of service as an administrative assistant at St. Vincent Charity Hospital before her retirement.
Kathie found great joy in the quiet companionship of animals and took loving care of many beloved pets and animals over the years, a reflection of her gentle spirit.
She is survived by her loving husband of 20 years, Gary Szetlak; her dear sister, Mary Lou Johnson; and her cherished nieces and nephews, Robin (Joe) Johnson, Chris (Diane) Johnson, Amy Johnson, Joan Wells, Katie Haywood, Michael (Doreen) Haywood, Mag (Joe) Ferrara, and Carrie (Keith) Harvey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ann Haywood.
In keeping with Kathie’s deep love for animals, those wishing to honor her memory may consider making a donation to Friendship APL, an organization close to her heart.
She will be privately laid to rest at a later date and the family requests privacy at this time.
