Kenneth James Wright's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kenneth J. Wright, 71, of Lorain, Ohio, who departed this life peacefully on July 11, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 24, 1953, to the late Elijah and Naoma (nee Rowe) Wright.
Kenneth proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Following his military service, he retired from Republic Steel and went on to drive for Lorain County Public Transit. Most recently, he found joy working as a bus driver for Clearview Elementary School, where he was lovingly known as the “Candyman” for his kindness and love for children.
A man of many passions, Kenneth was an avid fisherman and an enthusiastic fan of the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Cavaliers. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he was a devoted member of Broadway Assembly of God in Lorain.
He loved his family and Kenneth leaves to celebrate his life and cherish his beloved wife, Stephanie McMiller-Wright; step daughter Kelly Malone; step granddaughter Jamara; brothers Roger (Glenna) Wright, Robert (Lucy) Wright, Marvin (Nancy) Wright, John (Carolyn) Wright; sister Teresa (Gary) Hall; aunts Georgia Daly and Reva McCarthy; mother in love Gertrude McMiller; brothers in love Johnny Spinkston, Harold McMiller, and Clarence (Patricia) McMiller; sisters in love Roleta McMiller and Flora Lynn (James) Merriweather; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Geneva (Larry) Peyton.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 16th, 2025 from 5-7 PM at Dovin & Reber Jones Funeral and Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, OH 44001. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 17th, 2025 at 11 AM at Broadway Assembly of God, 5495 Broadway, Lorain, OH 44052. Interment with military honors will be held on Friday, July 18th at 12:15 PM at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio. Please meet at the funeral home at 10:45 AM for the burial.
