Larry R. Schieferstein's Obituary
Larry R. Schieferstein Sr., age 68, of Amherst passed away peacefully on Monday, November 14, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on March 22, 1954 in Amherst, Ohio to Carl and Ann (nee Hutchinson) Schieferstein. Larry was a 1972 graduate of Marion L. Steele. For over 35 years he worked as a crane operator in the bar mill at US Steel.
Larry was a long-time member of Tommy’s Truckers Van Club in Amherst. He enjoyed his model trains, all the Cleveland Sports teams, gardening, camping, and of course his Harley Davidson motorcycle.
He had a love of music and started playing the drums at the age of 12. He played at many local pubs with several bands up until about 6 years ago.
He is survived by his children, Stacey (Rich) Bockey, Kayla Schieferstein, and Larry Schieferstein Jr.; granddaughter, Brynn Bockey; sister, Carla Morris; brother, Bruce (Sharon) Schieferstein; niece, Michelle Lopez; and nephews, Aaron Lopez, and Adam Lopez.
Private funeral services were held at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center and interment took place at Crown Hill Cemetery in Amherst.
