Laura Holody (nee White)'s Obituary
If you were lucky enough to have met Laura (White) Holody, you know she never just walked into a room—she lit it up with her positivity and energy. With a warmth that wrapped around you like a hug and a smile that made you feel instantly at home, she had a way of making everyone she met feel special. And no matter who you were, you were unable to escape all the hugs she was dishing out to family, friends, and strangers alike.
Laura was a woman of deep love and simple joys. Her greatest treasure in life was her family. Her daughter Lindsey and her two granddaughters, Eva and Mia, who were the absolute lights of her life. Being their grandma was her greatest honor, and she poured every ounce of her love into them. She spoiled them with her time, her love, with gifts, and always with kind words. She delighted in their laughter, their milestones, and every precious moment she could spend with them. She then would share those moments and stories with anyone that would listen, often to co-workers, neighbors and friends.
Laura spent decades building not just a career but an extended family in the ophthalmology field, who she loved and treated like they were her own family. She wasn’t just a colleague; she was the office mom, a mentor, a guide, and a friend to so many who will miss her as we all do. Her expertise in the field was unmatched, but it was her kindness, patience, and unwavering support that left the deepest mark on those she worked with.
Laura, born June 25, 1957, in Lorain, Ohio and lived a rich life until her passing March 4th, 2025 -she was at the Cleveland Browns playoff game known to us heartbreakingly as “the drive,” she had Oprah Winfrey as a patient, she traveled the world—and yet she remained the simple, cat-loving, wine-sipping, crafty homebody too. Of all her memories, her favorites were the simplest ones -afternoons and evenings spent with family and friends, sharing meals, a drink, and stories about her daughter and grandkids, family, life, and work that never got old. She loved to laugh, to reminisce, and to make sure that the people she loved knew just how much they meant to her.
Her passion for music was as vibrant as her spirit. A devoted fan of the ’70s, Laura found joy in the timeless tunes of ABBA, the soulful harmonies of the Bee Gees, the stirring melodies of Fleetwood Mac, and the electrifying anthems of Queen. Music was more than just a soundtrack to her days—it was a celebration of life, love, and the moments that made her heart soar. Whether she was humming along while tending her garden or sharing a favorite song during family gatherings, these melodies perfectly echoed the rhythm of her life.
Her backyard, like music, was her sanctuary, a place where pink flowers bloomed under her careful touch, and charming decorations-many of which were found on adventures to craft shows with her loving sister Lisa and beloved nieces added whimsy to the space she cherished. She would spend hours tending to her garden, then sit back with a glass of wine and a good tune and admire it, taking in the beauty of what she had nurtured. It was a reflection of her own heart and spirit—full, colorful, and overflowing with love.
Laura was one of a kind-a woman with a heart too big to measure and a spirit too bright to fade. While our hearts ache at her absence, we find comfort knowing she is now in a place as beautiful as the backyard she so adored. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and kindness that will live on in the people lucky enough to have been loved by her. Though she is no longer here to greet us with her warm smile or a huge hug, her love will always surround us-just like the flowers she so lovingly tended, always in bloom.
Laura is survived by her daughter Lindsey Ramirez (Roland Heck), her granddaughters Eva and Mia Buehner, her sister Lisa (Gary) Heiland, and her sister’s children Brooke Armstrong, Jordan Hughes, Justin Hughes, and Jarrod Hughes. Laura’s arms extended wide to include a family tree with many branches, too many to list, both personal and professional. She is proceeded in passing by her loving parents Eugene and Carolyn Sue White.
Laura’s family will be holding a celebration of her life on Saturday, March 15, 2025, between the hours of 1pm to 4pm at Parkers Event Center (32858 Walker Road) in Avon Lake. Pink attire will be worn, stories will be shared, laughter and vintage music will be heard, wine will be drunk, and love will be felt – just as she would have wanted. The Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, Amherst, is assisting the family with arrangements. To send an online condolence, please visit www.dovinreberjones.com.
