Lawrence E. "Larry" Gosnell's Obituary
Lawrence E. “Larry” Gosnell, 61, of Lorain, passed away Monday, April 11, 2016 while under the care of Hospice of the Western Reserve following a short illness.
Born September 2, 1954 at Camp Gordon, Georgia, he lived in Cleveland before moving to Lorain in 1979.
He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and received the National Defense Medal, Expert Badge with Grenade Bar and Expert Badge with Rifle Bar.
Larry retired as an inspector from Republic Steel in 2015 after 35 years. He was a member of the United Steel Workers Union Local 1104, American Legion Post 30 where he served as finance officer, Veterans of Foreign War Post 1662 and was a life member of the Amvets Post 47.
Larry enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He was instrumental in organizing the Wounded Warrior motorcycle ride through the American Legion Post 30.
Surviving are his daughters, Jennifer Gosnell and Mellisa Gosnell both of Lorain; grandchildren, Marcus, Zarian and Dahani; his mother, Mary Krasula of Cincinnati; brothers, J. Richard Gosnell of Lincoln, Nebraska and Gary Gosnell of Cincinnati; many nieces and nephews; and his best friends of 38 years, Randy and Brenda Green of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Christine (nee Kopicki) in 2013; fathers, James Gosnell; step father, Ralph Krasula; and a brother, Michael Gosnell.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Funeral services will be Saturday at 12:00 pm in the funeral center. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp with full military honors.
