Leonard "Butch" Youngless' Obituary
Leonard “Butch” Youngless, age 71, of Amherst passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at the Cleveland Clinic. He was born on June 20, 1947 in Oberlin, Ohio to Leonard P. and Elizabeth (nee Orosz) Youngless.
He was a 1966 graduate of Oberlin High School and upon his graduation he continued his education and training at Lincoln Electric. He was a Maintenance Welder by trade and was employed by American Ship Building from 1967- 1985 and at General Motors in Parma from 1985 until his retirement in 2012.
Butch was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst, the Lions Club, the United Auto Workers, and the Brownhelm Historical Association.
He had a great love for the outdoors, gardening and taking his grandchildren on hikes in the woods. His greatest love was his family. He supported and loved them all 100 % by attending their sporting events, which included, football, cheerleading, hockey, 4-H and Cub Scout events.
Butch is survived by his wife of 51 years, Susy (nee Gross) Youngless; children, Lisa (Rick)Thrasher, of Vermilion, Chris (Tracie)Youngless, of Elmore, OH, and Donna Adams, of Vermilion; grandchildren, Derrick, Michael, and Bradley Thrasher, Anna, Rachel, and Jacob Youngless, and Colin Adams; sisters, Linda Worcester, Mary Ann Johnson, and Peggy Hartman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard P. and Elizabeth Youngless; and his brother, Wally Youngless.
The family will receive friends on Monday, February 11, 2019 from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral &Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. A memorial service will immediately follow the visitation at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral center. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest contributions be made in memory of Butch to the Friendship Animal Protective League, 8303 Murray Ridge Road, Elyria, OH 44035
