Leticia Chavez Fischer, Educator
Leticia Chavez Fischer, age 60, of North Ridgeville and previously of Sheffield Village, passed away Saturday, October 24, 2009 at St. John West Shore Hospital, Westlake.
She was born February 7, 1949 in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, and was raised in Lorain.
Leticia graduated from Lorain Admiral King High School. She received her Bachelor's of Science and Masters Degree from University of Akron. She was employed by the Lorain City Schools for over 35 years, teaching at Lorain and Admiral King High Schools. She was a member of the Church of St. Peter, Lorain.
She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Robert; her son, Rob; her daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Jonathan Dossie, all of North Ridgeville; her father, Ignacio Chavez, Sr.; brothers, Ignacio Jr., Rudolph Sr., Richard, George, Edward Sr., and Randolph Chavez and her sisters, Alice Holland and Myrna Chavez-Tomazic, and multiple nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Antonia (nee Ledezma) Chavez in 2000 and her sister, Margaret Chavez.
The family will receive friends on Friday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral and Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst. Funeral services will be on Saturday at a time to be announced. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
