Lewis Peck's Obituary
Lewis R. Peck, age 95, of Elyria, went peacefully to his eternal home, Saturday, February 5, 2011.
Lewis was born on January 14, 1916 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Remington and Mabel Peck.
Lewis was a 1934 graduate of West High in Cleveland, Ohio. He continued his education at Fenn College (Cleveland State) majoring in accounting and earning a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration in 1955.
Mr. Peck held various accounting positions starting in 1941. The areas were payroll, financial and cost accounting. He formed his own accounting business in 1959. He sold accounting systems in Lorain and neighboring counties. He realized these business were not only interested in a system of accounting, they also needed advise. He made the next step and started servicing these businesses as their accountant. His son, John, followed in his footsteps and joined the accounting firm in 1977. Lewis retired from Peck & Peck Public Accountants in 2006 at the age of 91.
Lewis was a member of the First Congregational Church U.C.C. of Lorain where he was very active serving as a trustee, usher, greeter and treasurer. He was a member of the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Music found much enjoyment in his life. He was an avid piano player and even led a band of his own that played at country clubs and private affairs. He also enjoyed cross word puzzles and ball room dancing. Lewis was the best handyman and could fix anything. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends for his numerous talents and his wonderful sense of humor.
Lewis is survived by his wife of 35 years, Ann (nee Muzik) Peck; sons, John (Bonnie) Peck, of Amherst and James Peck, of Elyria; daughter, Linda Schreiber, of Ypsilanti, Michigan; step-children, Lynne Muzik, of Chagrin Falls, LaDean Hutter, of Elyria and Cindi Keiser, of Lorain; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha (nee Hoover), on October 1, 1974 and his parents.
The Peck family will receive family and friends on Sunday, February 13, 2011 from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst where funeral services will be held on Monday, February 14, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Vicki McGaw, of First Congregation Church U.C.C. of Lorain will officiate. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Park Cemetery, Avon.
