Linda Kay Segraves' Obituary
Linda Kay Segraves (nee Childers), a beloved member of the Amherst community, passed away after a brief illness on Monday, March 11, 2024, at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland. She was born on June 11, 1946, in Lucasville, Ohio, and was a proud 1963 graduate of Valley High School. Linda lived most of her life in the area, settling here in 1966 after her husband accepted a position at Ford Motor Co.
Linda found joy and solace in her faith, and enjoyed attending services at Beacon Baptist Church. However, her deepest source of happiness was her family. She cherished her loved ones dearly and leaves behind countless cherished memories.
An avid shopper, Linda found great delight in perusing the aisles, especially when accompanied by her best friend who also happened to be her sister. She had a passion for the open road, often joining her husband on exhilarating rides on their Harley and Trike. Many memorable adventures were shared with her husband, sister, and brother-in-law, forming cherished bonds and unforgettable experiences.
In her leisure time, Linda found peace and fulfillment in tending to her yard and indulging in gardening. She had a green thumb and took great pride in her beautiful garden. Additionally, Linda was known for her competitive spirit in board games and her exceptional baking skills. Her famous brownies were a delight to all who tasted them, a testament to her culinary talent and generous spirit.
Linda Kay Segraves will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her kindness, warmth, and infectious laughter will forever be remembered. Though she may no longer be with us in person, her love and legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched. May she rest in peace.
Kay is survived by her husband of 58 years, Philip “Mike” Segraves; daughter, Tammy (Jim) Miller, of Columbus; 2 granddaughters, Eva & Jane Miller; her 2 grand dogs, Grady & Kermit; and sisters, Loretta (James) Lothridge, of Lorain and Frieda (Don) O’Bryan, of Vermilion. She is also survived by her many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, William & Mary (nee McFarland) Childers; a sister, Sharon Montgomery; and a nephew, Joseph Montgomery, Jr.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 15th, 2024 from 10:00 am until the time of her funeral service at 12:00 pm at Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst.
