Linda J. Vrbancic's Obituary
Linda Jean Vrbancic (née Provenza), 79, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. A lifelong resident of Lorain, Ohio, she lived a life rooted in compassion, curiosity, and deep devotion to the people she cherished.
She was born on January 6, 1947, and graduated from Lorain High School in 1965. Linda then went on to earn her degree in Secondary Education from Kent State University in 1969, specializing in English and History. Her love of learning shaped her life and the lives of countless students. She taught at Lorain County JVS until her retirement in 2002, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, patience, and encouragement.
Linda is survived by her three children — Heather Gerrasch, Victor (Brandy) Vrbancic, and Michael (Stacy) Vrbancic; her six grandchildren- Lili, Keagen, Dominic, Andrew, Luca, and Jacob; and her beloved sisters Nancy Henn and Kathie Cruz.
Along with her loving parents Anthony and Daisy Provenza, she was preceded in death by her sister Antoinette, who passed away in 1996.
Linda treasured her family deeply — siblings, cousins, and extended relatives — and maintained lifelong friendships that brought her joy and laughter. Avid in her passions, Linda was a voracious reader, an incredible trivia player, and a lover of music. She was someone who found meaning in simple, beautiful moments shared with the people she loved.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 15 from 4:00–7:00 PM, at Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral Home, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road in Amherst, OH 44001. A small ceremony will take place Tuesday morning at 10:00 AM, at the funeral home, followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery, where she will rest alongside her family. Family and friends are invited to return to the funeral home afterward for a luncheon in her honor.
