Lois A. Mackert's Obituary
Lois A. Mackert (nee Kelling), age 73, of Amherst passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 8, 2020. She was born on February 21, 1947 in Lorain, Ohio to Alfred and Katherine (nee Kopronica) Kelling and was a 1965 graduate of Brookside High School.
For 17 years Lois worked as a teacher’s aide at St. Joseph Catholic School in Amherst. She thoroughly enjoyed working with the children, especially the “little ones.”
Lois’s passion was her grandchildren, from making them scrapbooks, to cooking and baking for them. The holidays and birthdays always included her homemade cookies.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, David; children, Todd (Susan) Mackert, Marc (Meredith) Mackert, Ryan (Rebecca) Mackert, and Kristen Mackert Shaben; grandchildren, Jack, Ben, Natalie, and Reese Mackert, and Leanna and Lauren Shaben; brother, Robert (Anne) Kelling; sister, Mary Ann Kelling; and her brother-in-law, Edward Fridenstine.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Katherine Kelling; and her sister, Betty Fridenstine.
Private family funeral services are being held under the direction of The Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center.
