Lois Ritter's Obituary
Lois Ritter, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, April 20, 2025, at Autumn Aegis Nursing Home. She was 84 years old.
Born on August 26, 1940, in Lorain, Ohio, Lois was the daughter of Arthur and Catherine (née Malloy) Weirich. A proud lifelong resident of Lorain, she lived a life rooted in resilience, love, and quiet strength.
Lois dedicated much of her life to working as a waitress and barmaid at several establishments in the area, including the AMVETS Post 47 and Scrubby's Bar. Known for her warm smile and no-nonsense attitude, she made countless friends along the way. One of her proudest achievements was celebrating 21 years of sobriety—an inspiration to all who knew her.
In her free time, Lois found joy in the simple pleasures: completing word search and jigsaw puzzles, reading a good book, bowling with friends, and crocheting beautiful keepsakes. She had a deep love of nature and spent many happy hours watching birds and squirrels from her window.
But above all, Lois's greatest love was her family. She leaves behind her children, Chris (Chris Green) Weitzel, Bill (Lisa) Ritter, and Aaron (Jean) Ritter; 8 cherished grandchildren; 6 adored great-grandchildren; and 1 beloved great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her dear brother, Robert (Andrea) Weirich.
She is now reunited in peace with her parents, Arthur and Catherine; her sister, Patricia Brown; and her brother, Arthur Weirich.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, April 28, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Closing prayers will be held on Tuesday, April 29th at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral center, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Parish, 3655 Oberlin Ave., Lorain, Ohio. Rev. Father Craig Hovanec, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
