Lou Eliopoulos' Obituary
Lou A. Eliopoulos, age 57, of Lorain, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2016, in the comfort of his own home and surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on June 19, 1958 in Philadelphia, PA and moved to the Lorain and Amherst area over 20 years ago. Lou earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Management from Kent State University and was an Air Traffic Controller at Oberlin Center, just retiring from there 2 years ago. Lou enjoyed attending Fresh Wind Church, where he played the drums in their band.
Lou’s passion was playing the drums in the Backstreets Band, from Canton, Ohio, the Slant Zero Band (which was a band consisting of all Air Traffic Controllers) and most recently with the Fresh Wind Church Band. He also enjoyed hiking, bonfires in his backyard and just hanging out and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Barbara A. (nee Broemsen), his children; Kara (Bill) O’Rourke, of Lexington, KY, Andrew, of Athens, OH, and Anthony, of Lorain, his parents; Andrew J. and Sylvia (nee Pachares) Eliopoulos, and his 3 brothers; James, of Naples, FL, Thomas (Sue), of Louisville, OH, and Gus (Katy), of North Canton. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 13, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Friends will also be received on Saturday, from 10:00 AM until the time of services at 11:00 AM, at the Fresh Wind Church, 1115 Milan Avenue, Amherst. The Rev. Tim Holt will officiate.
