Louis Michael Carpino, Jr.'s Obituary
Louis Michael Carpino Jr., age 82, of Lorain passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Mercy New Life Hospice Center.
He was born on May 24, 1934 in Weston, West Virginia to Luigi and Rose (nee Calabrese) Carpino . Louis enlisted with the United States Army in 1953, receiving the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged on August 20, 1956.
He worked as an inspector at Ford Motor Company retiring in 1990 after 24 years. Louis was a member of the Church of St. Peter, Lorain. He was a firm believer in donating blood and knew the importance of the lives that could be saved by his constant contribution.
Louis enjoyed cooking and cleaning but by far his greatest passion was his family. He was a loving an amazing husband and father and will be greatly missed by children and grandchildren. “His desire is to benefit mankind, and to help himself by helping others.”
He is survived by his son, , Louie (Roxanne) Carpino, of Clinton, Wisconsin; daughter, Tina Marie (Jim) Kamholz, of Amherst; grandchildren, Amanda (Ray) Harker, Taneesha Marrero, and Ross (Katie) Carpino; 8 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Katherine Trunzo.
Louis was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Rose in 2014; his son, Michael A Carpino; parents, Luigi and Rose; siblings, Mary Kohler, Americo I., Americo II, Virginia, Genevieve, Lena, Gabriel, Raymond, Betty, and Joseph.
The Carpino family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Closing prayers will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 3rd. in the funeral center followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at the Church of St. Peter, 3655 Oberlin Ave. Lorain. Rev. Fr. Craig Hovanec, Pastor, will officiate. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
