Lynne S. Jordan's Obituary
Lynne Suzanne Jordan (nee Brandes), 83, of Amherst went home to be with the Lord on April 2, 2025. She passed away peacefully at home while under the care of Mercy New Life Hospice after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Born November 1, 1941 in Dunkirk, NY, Lynne was the daughter of the late Frank Brandes and Grace Brandes (nee Ohm). A proud 1959 graduate of Parma High School, she went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Kent State University in 1963. She then dedicated 31 years to educating and enriching countless young lives as a teacher for Lorain City Schools. While doing so, she also earned a master’s degree in education from Ashland University in 2001.
Lynne was a longtime, devoted member of Lorain Lighthouse United Methodist Church in Lorain. She was also a member of Morning Light Chapter #80 Order of the Eastern Star and the American Association of University Women (AAUW).
With her husband by her side, she explored 48 US states, 5 Canadian provinces, 6 European countries, Mexico, and 6 Central American nations while also enjoying 182 days at sea on various cruises over the years. In addition to travel adventures, she was a member of a bridge club for 30 years and enjoyed gardening, crafting, and cooking. She will be fondly remembered for her extraordinary kindness, patience, giving spirit, and boundless love for her family and friends.
Lynne is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, John “Jack” Charles Jordan; children Julie (Ben Grimes) Samsel, Jeff (Donnelle) Jordan, and Jennifer (Jonathon) George; grandchildren J.P. Samsel, Jordan Samsel, Jackson Samsel, Amanda Jordan, Cassandra Jordan, Jocelyn George, Jillian George, Juliana George, and Jonathon George Jr.; and brother Thomas (Patty) Brandes.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Brandes and Grace Brandes (nee Ohm).
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Lorain Lighthouse United Methodist Church, 3015 Meister Road, Lorain, Ohio. The funeral service will begin at 5:00 PM.
