Margaret Fitzgerald's Obituary
Margaret (Peggy) Fitzgerald, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. She was born on February 28, 1947, in Cleveland, Ohio, to her parents, Marion and Marjorie Flanagan (nee Grady).
Margaret dedicated her professional life to the role of secretary, retiring from the Lakewood Police records department.
In her free time, Margaret found joy and excitement in visiting casinos with her sisters and trying her luck on lottery scratch offs. She was also an avid gardener, and a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies’ Auxiliary. Margaret was a huge animal lover. She fostered and rescued many dogs over the years, which brought her great joy.
Margaret was an extremely proud grandmother. She enjoyed attending their events and celebrating all their achievements with them.
Margaret is survived by her son, David (Michelle) Fairley, and her daughter, Veronica (Eric) Kammerer. She adored her four grandchildren, Edward, Constance, Sydney, and Jamieson, and they cherished their grandmother's presence in their lives. She is also survived by her brothers, Pat, Mike, and Larry Flanagan, and her sisters, Rose Flanagan and Jean Sparks. Margaret's memory will forever live on in the hearts of her close-knit family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Michael Fitzgerald, and her parents, Marion and Marjorie Flanagan.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at a visitation on Monday, November 6, 2023, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. The visitation will be held at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, located at 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst.
Closing prayers will take place on Tuesday, November 7th at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral center, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, located at 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst, Ohio. The service will be officiated by Rev. Father Timothy O'Connor, Pastor.
Margaret will be laid to rest at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Seville, OH 44273, at 1:45 p.m.
