"Coqui" Margarita Gonzalez's Obituary
"Coqui" Margarita Gonzalez (nee Soto), 89, of South Amherst, passed away Friday, Dec. 11, 2015, at Mercy Regional Medical Center, Lorain.
Born Oct. 25, 1926, in Lares, Puerto Rico, she moved to Lorain in 1951. She has been a South Amherst resident for the past 22 years.
Coqui and her husband owned and operated several grocery stores in Lorain for many years. She enjoyed cooking and watching wrestling on television with her husband, Pin.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel in Lorain, and the Charismatic group at the church.
Surviving is her loving husband of 70 years, "Pin" Jose; her son, Edwin of Amherst; daughters, Lillian (Tom) Neal of Amherst and Migdalia "Millie" (Bob) Loosli of S. Amherst; grandchildren, Candice "Chris" Darmafall, Rochelle Loosli, Kristie (Edward) Millane, Jessica (Orion) Owens, April (Guy) Sapienza, Ryan (Brooke) Neal; great grandchildren, Jeremy, Zachary, Sean, Michael, Cody, Gabrielle, Jaxson, Noah, Isabel, Angelique, Marissa and Alexandria; a brother, Nicolas Soto of Lorain; sisters, Gloria Rodriguez of Florida, Carmen Torres of California and Rosa Sidler of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Maros and Juana (nee Vazquez) Soto; and brothers, Francisco Soto and Pablo Soto.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2015, from 2:00 to 4:30 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst.
The family will also receive friends on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of mass at 9:30 a.m. Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Peal Avenue, Lorain. Rev. William Thaden, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
