Margie Lou Slack Nickoli's Obituary
Margie Lou Slack Nickoli, 56, of Amherst, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center, after a short illness.
She was born in Elyria and attended Murray Ridge Center, where she also worked in their Workshop Production Center. Margie had so many friends who loved and supported her and she brought love and joy to many in return.
Margie enjoyed cruising, traveling, gambling, music, and she especially loved her dog, “Dozey.” She enjoyed swimming and easily excelled in it. She proudly won numerous Special Olympics Ohio medals for swimming throughout Ohio and at the Ohio State University Aquatics Center.
Margie is survived by her mother, Marjorie A. Slack (nee Grueser), and her foster mother, who loved and cared for her for over 16 years and who was Margie’s passion, Nancy Seighman. Margie is also survived by her sisters; Marsha James, of Elyria, and Linda Gartman, of Avon, her brothers; Jim (Kathie) Nickoli, of Westerville, and Gene (Nan) Nickoli, of Powell, as well as her multiple nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jack L. Slack.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 7, from 4:00 pm, until the time of her memorial service at 6:00 pm, at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center,1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, Ohio 44001.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in her memory to the Special Olympics Ohio, 3303 Winchester Pike, Columbus, Ohio 43232.
