Maria Kupiniak Schneider's Obituary
Maria Kupiniak Schneider, a beloved wife, mother and member of the community, passed away peacefully at Kingston of Vermilion on January 26, 2024. Born in the Ukraine on May 25, 1943, Maria, at around 5 years old, immigrated to Lorain with her family, marking the beginning of a life filled with accomplishments, love, and dedication.
Maria was a proud graduate of Lorain High School and went on to pursue higher education, earning multiple bachelor's degrees between Baldwin Wallace and finally completing her teaching degree at Kent State University. Her passion for education led her to a fulfilling career as a 4th-grade teacher in Lorain schools, where she made a lasting impact on countless students at Hawthorne and Boone schools. She was extremely proud to be the 1st and only member of her family to go to and graduate college.
Devoted to her Ukrainian heritage, Maria was an active member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Church. She generously volunteered many hours, contributing to various fundraisers and church dinners. Her commitment to her roots reflected her deep connection to her cultural identity.
Beyond her professional and community contributions, Maria was a loving mother who passed on her skills and passion for animals, cooking, and art to her daughters. She found joy in music, crocheting, and spending time with her family. Alongside her husband, Maria cheered on the Lorain football, basketball, and baseball teams, becoming a familiar face in the crowd. She was a proud wife and mother who was always there to support her family with her whole heart.
Maria had a captivating presence, effortlessly grabbing the attention of any room she entered with her infectious laughter and warm demeanor. Her absence leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Maria Kupiniak Schneider will be greatly and dearly missed, but her legacy of love, laughter, and dedication to community and family will endure in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to share in her life. May she rest in eternal peace.
She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, John D. Schneider; her 2 daughters, Christina & Julie Schneider; and her 2 grandchildren, Tyler & Nellie Schneider. She is also survived by a few extended family members who live throughout the United States.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Viktor & Julia Kupiniak and her siblings, Nellie, Zenon, Viktor and Maria.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 29th, 2024 from 9:00 am until the time of her funeral service at 11:00 am at Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst.
