Marianne Monz's Obituary
Marianne Monz (formerly Marianne Nather) (nee Smith), age 76, of Lorain, died on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Mercy Regional Medical Center.
She was born on February 1, 1935 in Carnegie, Pennsylvania to the late Walter D. and Anna Smith, moving with her family to Pittsburgh in 1950. She came to Lorain at the age of 21, following her marriage to Edwin H. Nather in 1956.
After earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1973 from Bowling Green State University, she taught learning disabled students at Irving School for 25 years.
She was a lifelong member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Lorain. Her children, her grandchildren, and her rose bushes were her greatest joys, and she had a heart big enough for all of them.
She is survived by her sons, Daniel Nather, of Cincinnati and Thomas (Nancy) Nather, of North Ridgeville; her daughter, Louanne (Todd) Van Bemmelen, of Missouri City, TX; and 3 grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her second husband, Victor J. Monz, Jr. and a brother, Walter J. Smith.
The family invites friends to join them at a memorial mass on Saturday, August 13th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1305 E. Erie Ave., Lorain.
The Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst is handling the arrangements.
