Marie A. Bari's Obituary
Marie A. Bari (nee Ortenzi), age 79, passed away on February 12, 2023 at Mercy New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph after a 3 year illness.
Born May 20, 1943 in Lorain, Ohio, the daughter of Joseph and Dolly (nee Alu) Ortenzi, Marie graduated from Lorain High School in June of 1961. She loved singing and was a member of the A Cappella Choir and Choraleers. She appeared in the school’s production of 12 Angry Women. She also graduated from the Northern School of Cosmetology and worked for several years in Cosmetology in Lorain. Marie lived in Lorain, Cleveland, Newburgh Heights, and Garfield Heights. While in Garfield Heights, she became a cake decorator for 30 years, working for Reiders Stop and Shop as well as Giant Eagle. Retiring in 2000, she and her husband, Bob, returned to Lorain. Marie loved to read, paint ceramics and flower arranging. She loved all things Christmas as well.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert; sons, Robert, of Canton and Mathew (Kathi), of Marco Island, FL; grandchildren, Chad, Drew, Quinn, Taylor, Tori, and Teagan; great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Connor, Scarlett, Stella, Margot, Parker, and Zane; sister, Elaine Campana, of Lorain; and brother, Joe Ortenzi, of Mentor.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 16, 2023 from 3 – 7 pm in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, OH. Prayers will be held in the funeral center on Friday at 10:30 am. Her Mass of Christian Burial will follow, at 11:00 am, at St. Peter’s Church, 3655 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, OH 44053. The Rev. Fr.
