Marilyn Bakalar's Obituary
Marilyn K. Bakalar (nee Stelmack), 75, of Lorain, passed away Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Wesleyan Village in Elyria.
Born on July 18, 1938 in Lorain to the late Andrew and Anna (nee Ksenich) Stelmack, she resided in Lorain her entire life. Marilyn graduated from Lorain High School in 1956. Following high school, she attended Northern Institute of Cosmetology in Lorain and became a licensed beautician.
She worked as a beautician for many years, and had even owned her own salon for several years on Oberlin Avenue in Lorain called "Beauty Boutique".
Marilyn and her husband occasionally attended The Gathering Community Church in Elyria.
During the 1970's, she was active with the Lorain Youth Center.
She was an avid reader, especially books by her favorite author, Catherine Cookson. Marilyn also enjoyed camping.
She is survived by her husband, to whom she would have been married to for 54 years this coming August 29th, Ronald; her son, Scott (Michele) Bakalar, of Lorain; her daughter, Tracy (Raymond) Dorko, of Parma; her grandchildren, Kori and Robby Dorko; and her first cousin, Richard Ksenich.
The Bakalar family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 from 4 until the time of the funeral service at 7 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst. Pastor Tom Shumate, pastor of The Gathering Community Church, will officiate the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions are made to The Gathering Community Church, 4594 Midway Mall Elyria, OH 44035 or to a charity f the donor's choice.
