KNEW OF HIM FROM BEING BAND DIRECTOR AT CHS LIVED ALONG TIME
Another one of his 7th grade band students in Amherst, I was blessed to cross paths in this life with Mr. Rinker back in 1973. Mr. Rinker was my favorite educator in middle school and one of the most caring people I encountered throughout life. He gave many of us a gift that has lasted a lifetime…the gift of music. Middle school was a time when we started to understand what we wanted to pusue. Mr. Rinker made music the easy choice. Music became the soundtrack to our lives and while the quote may be overused, "without music, life would be a mistake." (and this from just a drummer!) Thank you, Mr. R. Rest in peace.
I was lucky enough to have Mr. Rinker for band in 7th grade at Nord Junior High in Amherst. I guess that was 1973-74. Boy did I miss him when he left. What a good guy!
Mr. Rinker was my band director in Amherst while I was in 7th grade. Hearing of his death, I have spoken to some of my fellow band friends. We all remember Mr. Rinker with SUCH fondness and gratitude!! I think we all loved him! I wish he could have stayed in Amherst! Some people cross our paths for a short time, but remain in our hearts. Mr. Rinker was one of those people for me. Way back when, I named one of my cats Marvin, because of Mr. Rinker!
My deepest sympathies to the Rinker family. I remember Marv from the Oberlin Municipal Court. He was always a gentleman and was very well respected by everyone. I am honored that I was able to have known him. May he Rest In Peace and may Gods blessings be with his family during this difficult time.

My deepest sympathy to the Rinker family. His life was a testament to the profound impact a dedicated, wise, kind, and caring teacher can have on generations of students as evidenced by all the Clearview band members that remained in touch with him throughout his lifetime. He was an honorable man who was loved and admired by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will not be forgotten.

Had the absolute privilege to introduce Marv to my daughters at my dads' funeral. Explained to them this is the man where I learned standing up straight/ heels and toes together/ making eye contact/ showing up on time / in general act and dress appropriately at all times. He chewed on my ear a couple of times cause I deserved it and made me a better person each time. Talk about being a good influence! "Front page Vogue"
